The first gold rush in Canada did not occur in the Klondike but in Beauce at Saint-Simon-les-Mines in the early 1860s.
The precious metal still fascinates the region a century and a half later. Beauce Gold Fields believes the deposit is larger than initially estimated. It is trying to assess these century-old gold deposits, in addition to searching for their source.
