Beauce Gold Fields Team No Comments

Just before it snowed I it took pictures of some of the old mine shafts found all over our Beauce Gold property. As we walk in the forest we actually have to be careful not to fall into one.

Dating from the 1860s to the 1890s, these shafts and tunnels were dug by an army of men using only picks & shovels. In fact, it is estimated that below St-Simon-les-Mine, there is a catacomb network of up to 6 kilometers of tunnels!

The Beauce was the site of Canada’s first placer gold rush before the Klondike.

Some of the largest historical gold nuggets came out of there. Beauce Gold Fields is dedicated in exploring for a hard rock source to the Beauce’s famous historical placer gold deposits.
